In a move to attract and retain the best drivers, waste control specialist, J&G Environmental has selected Renault Trucks for its replacement vehicles. Four 44-tonne Range T460 6×2 tractor units, supplied by JDS Trucks Ltd, have been delivered; a fifth is on order and a further Range T460 rigid with bespoke Wheelbase drawbar trailer is in build. Part of J&G Environmental’s 15-vehicle fleet, the new Range Ts join the company’s hazardous ADR waste removal service, operating across mainland UK.
Driver appeal was a key factor in vehicle selection, as Fleet Compliance Manager, James Quick, comments: “Keeping drivers happy is huge nowadays and being able to attract and, most importantly, hold on to good drivers is one of the most important factors in running a successful fleet. We bought a Range T in January 2015 and the feedback we have received from the driver has been instrumental in us choosing the vehicle again. As drivers spend a large amount of their time on the road, it’s essential that the truck feels almost like a home. The Range T is more sturdy, has more space and the environment inside is excellent.”
He continues: “The service from JDS is first class; we have been a customer of theirs and Renault Trucks for a long time. The team is very friendly, communication is great and Richard Davies, our main contact, is excellent. Keeping our trucks on the road with minimal downtime is crucial to our business and JDS deliver time and time again.”
J&G Environmental took out Renault Trucks’ Optifleet Drive on their trucks, which allows remote downloading of the tachograph data through Optifleet.
James Quick explains why this is so important to his fleet: “Being able to remotely download the driver and truck’s digi card means it’s easier for me to keep an eye on the driver’s hours, working environment and monitor fuel consumption. Optifleet really takes things to the next level in terms of keeping connected to our day-to-day operations.”
The new Range Ts, supplied on JDS Trucks’ 4-year repair and maintenance deal, are fitted with Kuda Kitchen Packs and wrapped in J&G Environmental’s striking blue and white livery by Wykes Vehicle Wrap.
