On Friday, 2nd August, HGV driver Paul Kane, 61, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention via post and was sentenced in his absence at Suffolk Magistrates Court.

On 5th December last year, near the Orwell Crossing Lorry Park, the HGV lost control whilst approaching a junction. As a result, the lorry was overturned, blocking both lanes on the A14 and Kane was left with three cracked ribs and internal bruising.

The crash caused chaos for Ipswich traffic and the Orwell Bridge was temporarily closed. Kane was fined £150, as well as £100 court costs and a £30 victim charge.
