DAF Trucks dealership group, Ford & Slater, has invested £150,000 in a new building at their Leicester site to support subcontractors working on site.

With eleven locations throughout Eastern and Central England, Ford & Slater is one of the largest DAF dealership groups in the UK, delivering over 2,000 new vehicles per annum. Additionally, since Ford & Slater gained Stage 2 Type Approval to cover accessory fitment on tractor units and factory bodied vehicles, the requirement for covered space has significantly increased.

The approvals cover the fitment of over 100 commonly specified components across the full DAF range of LF, CF and XF, and ensure the Dealership can maintain consistency, traceability and quality of installations without the need for costly and time consuming IVAs.

Ford & Slater Joint Managing Director, Tim Strevens, explained: “We received our first batch of Type Approvals in April 2019 and have since received five more covering nine Models. This means our Type Approval covers the specification of around 5000 of the new DAF trucks sold annually.”

Strevens continued, “We pride ourselves on the quality, accuracy and speed of our pre-delivery preparation process; making sure our customers get the right vehicle, at the right time. As the volume of vehicles going through our Leicester site increases, this new building will ensure we continue to support our sub-contractors and give them an environment to work in safely and efficiently. It’s a win for us, our sub-contractors and most-of-all, our customers.”
