Britain’s most famous and media-friendly haulier Eddie Stobart has pledged to supply two top-of-the-range Volvo FH tractor units for the 11 teams of competitors taking part in the Guinness World Record Charity Truck Pull Challenge in Stroud on Bank Holiday Sunday 24th May 2015.

This is the first time the Cotswolds have hosted this historic event. The one-mile truck pull has never before been attempted, so a new Guinness World Record is guaranteed to be set.

The massive event, which is in aid of three notable charities ‘Fallen Fusiliers’, The British Heart Foundation and ‘Action for Children’, takes place between 11:00 am and 21:00 pm. The truck pull is scheduled to take place at 11:00 am on the A46 at ‘Merry-Walks’, Stroud, which Gloucester Highways Authority and Gloucestershire Police have agreed to close while the 11 teams, each of 15 people, battle it out to become Guinness World Record holders.

The event is being billed as a family-oriented fun day, says organiser Gary Gardner: “In addition to the truck pull, which should prove to be spectacular, as each of these Volvos weighs in at around 8 tonnes, we’ve got a huge feast of entertainment for all the family. Including several stars from ‘X-Factor’ and ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. Fans paying £15 will be able to buy tickets to ‘meet and greet’ ‘X-Factor’ star Nicholas McDonald on the luxurious X-Factor Tour Bus.”

“There will be funfair rides for the kids and a monster raffle in aid of our three charities. We’re also looking to raise funds for local Gloucester children’s charity ‘Kingfisher’. Tesco, Volvo Trucks and many other local businesses have donated some fantastic raffle items. Everything must go!”

“Entry to the entertainment zone and area around the mammoth festival stage is free to all and we’re looking for the truck pull teams to heave a big FH Volvo one mile up the road for a brand new Guinness World Record,” added Gary Gardner, who welcomes calls from potential sponsors on: 07809 635014.
