Riders from West Midlands logistics firm Pallet-Track and its shareholder members battled strong winds to raise more than £5,000 for nominated 2022 charity partner Believe to Achieve.
The 13-strong team of riders took to their saddles over the weekend of June 11 and 12, cycling more than 120 miles to raise money for the charity, which was founded in 2001 in Wolverhampton by George Medal holder, Lisa Potts, to support vulnerable children and their families.
The intrepid team, made up of riders from across the network, started out at Doncaster member JMS of Doncaster, before heading to Hull-based member Harrison Solway Logistics and back.
They were backed by a support crew travelling close behind them, thanks to fellow network member Sheldon Clayton Logistics donating a vehicle for the weekend.
The riders, including Pallet-Track chief executive Caroline Green, bore the brunt of ex-tropical storm Alex, which hit large parts of the country over the weekend.
Caroline said:
“While this year’s conditions were dry, the intense wind meant we had to cycle twice as hard, to not only remain moving forward but stay upright!
As with any challenge, we experienced some difficulties along the way, with mechanical issues and fatigue, but everyone crossed the finish line proud of what they had achieved for such a vital cause.”
The ride is the second charity event in two months for Pallet-Track, with their annual golf day on May 26 raising £5,100 for Believe to Achieve.
