John McGrane, Director General of The British Irish Chamber of Commerce, will discuss practical ways in which both Irish and UK firms can prepare now for Brexit when he gives the keynote speech at the Freight Transport Association’s Transport Manager Northern Ireland Conference sponsored by Iveco which takes place at the Culloden Hotel, Cultra, on Wednesday 15 March.
The British Irish Chamber of Commerce is a private sector organisation which Mr McGrane co-founded in 2011 to represent businesses with interests in Ireland and the UK. In his speech Mr McGrane will be examining the impact Brexit could have on transport and the movement of goods on the island of Ireland.
John McGrane said: “Ireland has always traded with the UK and we always will, the only issue is how much less value will be earned because of the cost of new barriers and rules that Brexit may cause. I will be discussing practical ways in which both Irish and UK firms can prepare now to reduce their risk of loss due to Brexit, and how to design a better future for all through maximising trade between Ireland, the UK, the EU and the US.”
Other speakers include Jeremy Logan, Head of Roadside Enforcement, Driver & Vehicle Agency (DVA), who will discuss the DVA’s enforcement priorities; Pat Delaney, DVA’s Director of Operations will speak on how to ensure compliance with the latest legislation on commercial vehicle testing; and Inspector Rosie Leech, Police Service Northern Ireland (PSNI) who will cover driver and vehicle safety, including insecure loads, mobile phones and new alcohol limits.
