FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp (NYSE: FDX) and the world’s largest express transportation company, has awarded its signature FedEx Access Award to Estrela, a student run company from Kirkwall Grammar School in Orkney.
The Company of the Year Competition is a Young Enterprise programme. Young Enterprise is a national charity dedicated towards entrepreneurship and helping young people foster key employability skills and prepare them for the world of work. This year, more than 16,500 students across the UK took part in the programme, creating more than 1,400 student companies. The best 14 teams were chosen to take part in the National competition in London on July 6, 2018. The winner of the competition will compete in the European final on July 18, in Belgrade, Serbia.
The FedEx Access Award was awarded to the student-run company that best demonstrated innovation, socio-economic development, environmental sustainability and access to global markets. FedEx Express has supported Young Enterprise for two years, as part of its commitment to Global Entrepreneurship under FedEx Cares.
