Truck owner-driver Chris Hayes has been presented with a special award to mark ten years since he founded his company, Chris Hayes Haulage.

Chris celebrated a decade behind the wheel by taking delivery of a brand new Volvo FH4 tractor unit, which he will use to continue to transport steel products to destinations throughout the UK.

Amazingly, Chris estimates that over the ten years he has personally covered over one million kilometres – more than enough to comfortably go to the moon and back!

Chris ordered his new truck from the Hartshorne Group, The Midlands Volvo Commercial Vehicle Distributor with depots in the Midlands, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.

Volvo executives presented Chris with an award in the form of a commemorative watch in recognition of his contributions to the haulage industry and the commercial transport sector.

Martin Cronin, Managing Director of Hartshorne Group, said: “We’d like to be the first to congratulate Chris for his achievements over the last ten years. We’re very proud to be associated with businesses large and small, we wish Chris all the very best for his continued success.”

Chris, who lives in Blidworth, commented: “I’ve been in business for 10 years, during which time I’ve have had plenty of ups and downs. We’ve come a long way in that time but you can never take your finger off the pulse. I always have very good relationships with both Hartshorne and Volvo Trucks. My maiden road voyage in the new truck was to Blairgowrie and Montrose in Scotland. My smile is still just as big as on that first trip. It’s a truly outstanding machine – I absolutely love it!”
