Barrus has replaced its existing fleet of 15-year-old Moffett truck mounted forklifts with new models designed and manufactured in Ross-on-Wye by ABT Loadmac Ltd. Unique to Barrus, the new Loadmac 825 iSR (integrated Second Reach) 3.1 forklifts are powered by Yanmar diesel engines and were recently collected by the Barrus transport team.

Supplied by Barrus, Yanmar’s UK distributor, the Yanmar 4TNV88-BDYE 49hp diesel engines were delivered to Loadmac by Transport Manager, Rob Malone, who was given the opportunity to see the new forklifts in production.

Over the past 10 years, Barrus has developed a strong relationship with Loadmac and the company’s owner and Managing Director, Mark Hignett; previously Managing Director of Moffett-Kooi. During their lifetime, the existing Moffett forklifts have been refurbished by Loadmac to a high standard, so Rob was confident in selecting them to supply the new fleet.

As this type of machine is carried on the rear of vehicles, Mark and his team have worked tirelessly to build a machine that can withstand the elements and meet Barrus’s needs for a higher than standard lift capacity. These upgraded machines are designed to lift 3 tonnes without compromising on size and weight and adversely affecting the towing vehicle’s fuel consumption and load capacity.

“Loadmac machines are made in the UK and the company offers an exceptional level of customer service,” commented Rob. “It is great to know that the company is always willing to listen to your requirements and try their best to meet them.” Rob concluded, “As a company, we can now move forward with reliable equipment.  The enhanced lifting ability allows us to deal with larger and heavier products, meeting customer service levels now and in the future.”
