The Newcastle branch of leading logistics provider, Europa Worldwide Group, is celebrating record breaking business growth as it moves into 2018.

The team, based at Monkton Business Park in South Tyneside, saw turnover grow by 15% last year, with consignment volumes up by over a third in the same period, making 2017 the most successful year in the branch’s 23-year history.

This boom in business in Newcastle comes as a result of Europa’s increasingly strong network across the UK and Europe, along with a 30% increase in manufacturing output over the year in the North East, reflecting the growth in the demand in the region which is set to continue over the coming months.

Europa has been quick to maximise this positive outlook, by rapidly expanding its automotive customer-base, which now makes up over 60% of its overall business in the North East – an area which produces over half a million cars each year.

Branch Manager at Europa Newcastle, Mat Jobson, said: “We’re thrilled with our rate of growth over the past year. 2017 was our most profitable in 23 years, which reflects both the growing reputation of Europa as one of leading logistics providers in this country and the industrial confidence of the region we serve.

“The automotive sector is hugely important to our business and I’m pleased that we’ve been able to expand our customer-base whilst working cost-efficiently and providing the best possible service. It’s great to see these record figures and we hope to build upon this success in 2018.”

Europa’s Newcastle branch has also experienced success following the introduction of the company’s innovative MBX service for its road customers. The unique new express product, introduced in August last year, offers Europa customers the opportunity to benefit from a full refund of freight charges if Europa fails to deliver to the customer’s defined and agreed transit time – something which no other logistics business is currently offering on express shipments.

Mat continued: “MBX has been a real winner for us here in the North East. Our customers from the manufacturing sector have been impressed with the fact that they are now able to send engineers overseas, confident in the fact that the goods will arrive when expected. It provides guaranteed efficiency, which gives Europa a great advantage with new and existing customers.”

This record-breaking success has meant the team has expanded, with the recruitment of a new Account Manager and Sales Operator in 2017, bringing the total members of staff to seven, and another two new appointments expected over the next few months.

Europa Worldwide Group employs 650 people across 12 sites in the UK plus Hong Kong and is represented in 100 countries. Europa also provides specialist air & sea, warehouse and showfreight services alongside its road operations.
