Brake Charity

UK Haulier are proud to be promoting the work of Brake who are an independent road safety charity who exist to stop the five deaths and 66 serious injuries that happen on UK roads every day[1]. Brake, who also care for the families bereaved and seriously injured in road crashes, run awareness-raising campaigns, community education programmes, events such as Road Safety Week, and a Fleet Safety Forum scheme, providing advice to companies. Brake’s support division cares for road crash victims through a helpline and other services.

The Fleet Safety Forum is a dedicated, not-for-profit service for fleet managers run by road safety charity Brake. It provides up-to-the-minute guidance, information and research on a broad range of road risk management topics. Subscribers get access to resources including guidance sheets and posters, an e-newsletter containing fleet safety best practice initiatives and research, plus discounted invitations to conferences and workshops. We know that some of the main risk factors facing at-work drivers are fatigue, distraction and time pressure. The Fleet Safety Forum produces regular guidance and posters for managers and drivers on how to manage a whole range risks.

Brake produces a fantastic range of resources to help you raise awareness amongst drivers of road safety issues. These include posters on key topics like mobile phone use, bumper stickers reminding other drivers to slow down, and other useful resources such as credit card sized tyre tread indicators allowing drivers to check their tyres are safe, and featuring Brake’s six point Pledge to stop dangerous and unnecessary driving.
