On the dot, an innovative, specified hour delivery technology, is now available to retailers across the UK.
Developed in 2015 by leading same day UK delivery company CitySprint, On the dot has been developed specifically to help retailers offer the highly convenient, intelligent deliveries that consumers have come to expect, at a price that competes with pure players like Amazon.
On the dot is based on innovative new technology developed by a dedicated CitySprint cross-functional team, which is designed to dynamically display capacity across its delivery network. The platform makes one-hour delivery time slots visible to both retailers and shoppers based on factors such as customer and store locations.
A critical part of its capability is On the dot’s open API, which means that retailers can easily integrate this delivery technology directly into their checkouts and EPOS, both online and in-store. Smaller retailers can also buy bundles of deliveries and create an account to offer On the dot immediately in-store or over the phone.
On the dot can also be used as a flexible last mile solution for customers who click but don’t collect, reducing levels of stock abandoned in stores and saving retailers the cost of a refunded sale and shipping costs back to their distribution centre.
After an incredibly successful pilot in London and Birmingham, On the dot is now being made available to retailers in all corners of the UK as it expands to cover 99% of the UK population. This expansion is supported by industry research which suggests that whilst 86% of consumers have used or would like specified timeslot deliveries, only 38% of retailers currently provide it.
Patrick Gallagher, CEO of CitySprint, commented: “The old model of deliveries on retailers’ terms is dead and gone. In today’s world, convenience trumps speed when it comes to buying online or in-store. This is exactly why we developed On the dot, the only service of its kind, which allows us to use and manage delivery capacity in a whole new way. Thanks to its technology, retailers now have access to incredible convenience at a reasonable cost.”
Powered by CitySprint, On the dot is supported by a wholly owned, uniformed and fully GPS tracked fleet of 3000+ couriers. With On the dot, both retailers and customers can feel assured that their delivery will be made by a professional courier.
To date, On the dot technology has been powering deliveries for companies such as Lords of London, Artisan du Chocolat and Lea & Sandeman and looks forward to the announcement of further partnerships in upcoming months.
